これまた５月の話。ずっと行きたかった、イグアナ島へ。Pedasi からたった数十分。見て！このラグーン。白い砂。ああ、楽園ですよー。太平洋側とは思えぬ、静かな海。

ペダシという小さな漁村のはずれにあるビーチで、酔っ払ってるアンちゃんを雇ってね。ガソリン買いに、いっしょに連れてかれたのも今となっては良い思い出。

ビーチに船をつけてもらいます。パナマって、本当にどこへ行っても人がいない。それが最高。島のメインビーチも私たちだけでした。なんて贅沢なの！
One of them agreed to take us and before too long we made it. Hermit crabs covered the white sands, so as you walked it looked like the beach was moving beneath your feet.

Besides the hermit crabs, there were also some these guys. "Que pretty!" as we say here in Panama.

We met some younger school boys from a nearby town hanging out for the day with their family. Nice kids and eager to show us all the cool things around the island. Fruits, creatures, trees, birds, bomb craters, etc.

そこは鳥さんたちの世界なのでした。それにしても、よく晴れたなー。きもちいいなー。快晴の空に生える鳥の影。

産卵時期の直後だったらしく、声をひそめて近づくと。生まれたばかりの鳥さんたち。かわいいです！

島の反対側にある小さなビーチ。ちょっとうねりが強かったです。

こんな道を通り抜けて、また島の表へ戻ります。
Oh yes, I mentioned bomb craters above. Just off to the side of this path. The U.S. used to think that this island was too beautiful to leave alone so they decided bomb the hell out it to keep its ego in check. Since, this island has this terrible knee-jerk, uppity anti-American attitude. Geez, get over it! They're just a couple of bombs. I mean come on, the island is still beautiful...

残念ながら、サンゴ礁はあまり残っていませんでしたが、このビーチ、平日ならプライベート使用間違いなし。また来たいね～。パナマは、やっぱり島！

that crab is amazing, but can't we see more of the merman? and what about any mermaids? surely there must be mermaids!
