The Ghost Town of Contadora

Contadora is a beautiful island. But nothing makes a beautiful island more creepy than an abandoned four-star hotel with nobody in sight.

This was really supposed to be the primo-resort of the island, but for some reason it consistently got terrible reviews.

All-around eerie. Noose-like ropes hanging from large beams. A bar with liquor bottles just sitting there.

Our neighbor informed us that this resort was a money laundering gig for a Colombian coke dealer, who could care less if the hotel was actually filled to capacity, but just as long as it was filled on the books. The money moved on and the hotel was left behind.

Sounds familiar? Recently, a Russian real estate firm purchased the abandoned hotels. Should be up and running soon (... but for how long?).
